Duties
- This is a dual role, combining responsibilities as a front desk receptionist and medical assistant, with time equally split between both functions.
- As a medical assistant, you will support psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners by assisting with treatments and taking patient vitals.
- As a receptionist, you will greet and check in patients, ensuring a warm and positive experience. Responsibilities include scheduling and confirming appointments (both in-person and over the phone), collecting and updating patient information such as medical history and insurance details, and assisting new patients with completing forms on an iPad. You will also be responsible for uploading these forms to the EHR system and preparing them for review by the billing team.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Answer phone calls and address inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient care efficiently.
- Help keep exam and therapy rooms stocked and ensure the office remains clean and organized.
Experience
- Prior experience in the mental health field is preferred.
- Must be a team player and adaptable to change, as we are a rapidly growing practice.
- Previous experience as a front desk receptionist or in a similar administrative role is preferred.
- Experience taking vitals is a plus, but not required; on-the-job training can be provided.
- Familiarity with medical scheduling systems, such as ICANOTES, is a bonus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Proficiency in using computer systems for data entry, record keeping, and appointment scheduling.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records and handling paperwork.
