Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and documenting manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production of precision components. This role supports sales during the quoting process, provides engineering support for process improvements, and ensures strong collaboration between departments to achieve company goals.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, estimating production times and workflow efficiency.
- Support the sales team by analyzing new part requirements, material costs, subcontracting needs, and production timelines.
- Create and maintain process documentation, engineering drawings, and quality checklists.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve processes, reduce inefficiencies, and optimize production times.
- Resolve technical challenges by working closely with supervisors, lead personnel, engineers, and sales teams.
- Manage and update material and subcontracting processes, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assist in inventory management and scheduling work orders for production.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
- Verify job travelers, confirm material availability, and coordinate purchasing as needed.
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate before releasing jobs to the production floor.
- Utilize software tools like Epicor for corrective actions and process updates.
- Follow company policies and participate in training and special projects as required.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerancing.
- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes, including different material types (Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Tool Steel, Plastics).
- Familiarity with various tooling, machinery, and their correct applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and effectively communicate technical information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other relevant software.
- Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive approach to process improvements.
- Ethical, team-oriented mindset with a positive and diplomatic attitude.
