What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Officer, Foundation Relations position at MoMA?
The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Development Officer, Foundation Relations in the Institutional Giving Department. Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Giving, Foundation Relations, the Development Officer will be responsible for soliciting and stewarding gifts from Foundations for exhibitions, publications, film, education, and other Museum program areas.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Works with Associate Director to strengthen and expand foundation donor base through active research and prospecting, thoughtful cultivation, and consistent stewardship.
- Conducts smooth written and verbal stewardship of donors and prospects, including phone and email inquiries, onsite visits, and creation of written proposals and reports.
- Engages with donors and prospects frequently and proactively by phone and email to schedule onsite visits to the Museum’s galleries and programs. Greets and accompanies donors to programs, private tours, and Museum special events.
- Works with colleagues in curatorial departments and Conservation, Finance, Accounting, International Programs, Library, and Archives to collect relevant data on Museum activities.
- Drafts sophisticated proposals and reports for donors and prospects, including detailed project narratives, budgets, and reports with visuals as needed.
- Builds proposal budgets, conducts detailed financial analysis, and creates quantitative reports on funds and endowments.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ relevant experience in grant writing.
- Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with finance/budgeting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Database experience a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the telephone.

Salary range: The salary range for this position is a minimum of $62,000 to a maximum of $70,000 per annum
