Job Summary

Performs a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests appropriate to the discipline of the assigned laboratory section. Obtains specimens where necessary. Prepares the specimen and decides the suitability of the specimen for the requested test. Prepares reagents. Performs tests, determines, and calculates results. Reviews results for accuracy. Maintains proper records. Discusses methods and general procedures. Investigates alternative procedures, where appropriate, and reviews results with the supervisor. Assists in evaluation of new test methods and instrumentation.

Job Requirements

a. Minimum Education Requirement : Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or in chemical, physical, or biological science with clinical education, which includes clinical rotations/internship.

b. Minimum Experience Requirement :

Minimum License Requirement : Medical Lab Tech, Cert (Required) ASCP/AMT/AAB within 1 year of hire or be licensed as a CLP-MLT before the effective date of June 1, 2017 and have met all applicable requirements of WV Legislature rule sections 5.1.a through 5.1.d ASCP/AMT/AAB within 1 year of hire or be licensed as a CLP-MLT before the effective date of June 1, 2017 and have met all applicable requirements of WV Legislature rule sections 5.1.a through 5.1.d

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.

Work Schedule: Evenings

Status: 32 hrs per pay
