What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Support Coach – Afterschool Program position at Monadnock United Way?

Winchester ACCESS is seeking a calm, patient Behavioral Support Coach to work with children in an afterschool program. This is a great opportunity for college students, graduate students, or early-career professionals interested in education, psychology, social work, counseling, or youth development. Flexible part-time schedule; minimum availability of 2-3 afternoons per week, with up to 5 afternoons available.

Training and mentorship are provided. Prior experience is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with behavioral, emotional, and social regulation during afterschool programming
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who need additional behavioral support
  • Model and reinforce positive behaviors, routines, and coping strategies
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations using trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate approaches
  • Collaborate with program staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Communicate observations and concerns with site leadership as needed

Qualifications

  • Interest in working with children and youth
  • Calm, patient, and emotionally regulated demeanor
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Reliable, reflective, and open to coaching and feedback
  • Ability to work afternoon hours during the school year

Preferred (but Not Required)

  • Coursework or experience in education, psychology, social work, counseling, or human services
  • Experience in afterschool programs, camps, classrooms, or other youth-serving environments
  • Interest in trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning (SEL), or behavioral support strategies
