The Buying Analyst plays a key role in supporting merchandise buying decisions across the Monkee’s franchise network through data-driven insights and financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is comfortable interpreting numbers, identifying trends, and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both internal teams and store owners.
Key Responsibilities:
· Analyze brand performance, category trends, and customer demand to inform seasonal buying strategies.
· Interpret sales reports and inventory metrics to assess sell-through, aging inventory, replenishment needs, and future buy quantities.
· Conduct budget analysis and financial modeling to support assortment planning, open-to-buy, and forecast accuracy.
· Evaluate profitability and margin performance across categories and brands, identifying opportunities to improve margin mix.
· Monitor inventory levels, receipt flow, and vendor performance to optimize store productivity.
· Build reporting and dashboards to make complex data accessible to non-analytical stakeholders.
· Collaborate with buying and merchandising teams to recommend adjustments to assortments, pricing, or promotional strategies.
· Teach and instruct new and current store owners how to read reports, understand inventory health, analyze sales data, and make confident, informed buying decisions.
Qualifications:
· BS in business, economics, fashion merchandising or similar degree
· 2–5 years of experience in merchandise planning, buying, allocation, retail analytics, or finance (fashion/apparel preferred).
· Strong Excel/Sheets and analytics skills; familiarity with retail/system reporting a plus.
· Ability to present data clearly and teach store owners how to interpret it.
· Detail-oriented with solid understanding of retail math (margin, markup, sell-through, turn, etc.).
· Strong communication skills and comfort working with franchise owners and cross-functional partners.
