The Office of Human Resources projects pride and enthusiasm in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan by providing leadership, guidance and administration of classification, recruitment, payroll, benefits and employee/labor relations in a professional and dedicated manner to the Montana State University Bozeman campus, Agricultural Experiment Stations and Extension Service.
As the Business Operations Manager for the Human Resources Office this position supervises the HR Front Desk Associate and is the primary administrative support for the department. The Business Operations Manager also provides executive assistant support for the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Administrative Duties
Serves as executive assistant to Chief Human Resources Officer
Coordinate logistics for meetings, regular events, and special events as assigned
Coordinate HR department transactional work for meetings, computer equipment, processing of invoices, travel coordination, and other administrative work
Manage projects within HR as assigned
Assist with the coordination of HR reporting and other data requests
Develop and communicate processes internal to HR
Liaison with other departments and key staff partners for HR
Provide admin support to the HR managers as directed by the CHRO and/or management team
Department Communication and Training
Develop and coordinate internal HR communications and other correspondence with other MSU departments
Manage and maintain the HR web page, ensuring it is up-to-date, accurate, and user-friendly
Point person for all internal HR meetings and events
Coordinate training plans for new employees
Coordinate all details of HR training programs offered to HR staff and to campus
Department Manager
Directly supervises the HR Front Desk Associate
Supervises HR student employees
Serves as the building supervisor for 920 Nopper
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Progressively responsible experience with human resources and/or general administration or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, website, presentations, and email. Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Demonstrated experience in a customer service position.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience with a multi-relational database working in HR, Finance and/or Budget modules.
Advanced skills in Excel and database management.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Management, or related field.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
