This role supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Teen Department Leads provides leadership, direction, and support, and works closely with the Teen Director to develop programming to include 7th Grade Initiative, Leader’s Club and Teen Scenes in addition to the Teen Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain basic principles of honesty, integrity, and a sincere commitment to our team and our members.

- Oversee program services for the Teen Center with the Teen Director.
- Maintain Teen Center and keep accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Oversee the delivery of day-to-day program activities consistent with established goals.
- Ensure teens are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities.
- Demonstrate leadership to assure proper conduct, safety and development of participants.
- Engage teens in a friendly and age-appropriate manner and communicate with parents as necessary after a conversation with the Teen Director.
- Champion gender and cultural diversity while successfully implementing and monitoring programs. Verify attendance and program participation are tracked daily with Teen Center Staff.
- Provide direct supervision and scheduling for part-time staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
- Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers and require them to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedures violations using the Y’s disciplinary procedures and respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follow mandates reporting requirements.
- Communicates to all employees and volunteers the Y’s commitment to protect our members from abuse.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exhibit a collaborative spirit working with teens and their families.
- Flexible schedule.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with teens and planning activities
- AAS/College degree preferred.
- Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lifting and moving program equipment up to 50 lbs.
