Personal Banker III

Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Personal Banker III to join our Downtown Santa Barbara Branch. The PB III will deliver a World Class Experience by providing excellent customer service to all internal and external customers of the Bank, acting as the single point of contact for walk-in customers; fulfilling sales, service and referral needs. Job duties on the platform will include but are not limited to: maintaining, servicing, and opening accounts; discussing loan options and taking loan applications; referrals to other lines of business. The PB III will be cross trained to service over the counter cash and negotiable transactions to provide reserve capacity on the CSR line as required in the branch. In addition, the PB III will receive officer training to provide reserve capacity to the leadership team for transaction or documentation review and opening/closing duties.  

Minimum Requirements, Activities & Responsibilities

Education and Experience: 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required; some college preferred.
• 3 years of previous Personal Banker experience required.
• 2 years of previous experience selling lending products (mortgage, home equity, business loans/lines, etc.) preferred.
• Must demonstrate sustained success in all Personal Banker responsibilities.
• Ability to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLSR), under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE ACT), and maintain the registration as required.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check administered by the Secretary of State in order to be commissioned as a Notary Public.

Essential Functions:

• Has a good understanding of the bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship, offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship.
• Accurately operates network computers/software, and other equipment necessary to open new accounts, maintenance required for existing accounts and handle financial transactions.
• Assists in the acquisition of consumer and small business loan relationships; accepts consumer and small business loan applications and closes loans as directed by management.
• Identifies and refers cross-sell opportunities as appropriate to customer requirements.
• Handles a variety of cash and negotiable transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Responds to customer inquiries and requests regarding bank products.

• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees
