What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Auditor/Front Desk Clerk position at Monterey Bay Lodge?
We are looking for the right person who can work a FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE allowing them to work varying shifts. Our 47 room Monterey Bay Lodge in Monterey, CA needs Front Desk Clerks to serve as the face of our business. We're looking for friendly individuals who enjoy being around and working with people and who can multi-task well. Previous customer service experience is important as you'll already understand the importance of responding quickly to guests' needs, questions, and complaints. Telephone work and computer work are heavy. Experienced hospitality workers are encouraged to apply, but we'll consider training the right individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Accounting Principles.
- Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot in order to resolve guest issues that may arise and respond to emergency situations.
- Must be proficient in Windows operating systems company approved spreadsheets and word processing.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems, as necessary.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Your cheerfulness will greet arriving guests both walk-in and booked prior to arrival.
- The Hotel never closes, so you must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- You'll be "front line" in communicating guest special requests and complaints to the appropriate department within the hotel.
- Resolve guest issues when possible or applicable.
- Punctual punching in and out for scheduled work shifts and meetings
- Reports deficiencies in a timely manner to appropriate manager or staff
- Attends company meetings and training sessions as required
- Responds to “on-call” situations
- Process all guest check-ins by confirming reservations, assigning room, and issuing and activating room key.
- Process all payment types such as room charges, cash, debit, or credit.
- Process all check-outs including resolving any late and disputed charges.
- Answer, record, and process all guest calls, messages, requests, questions, or concerns.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping to track readiness of rooms for check-in.
- Supply guests with directions and information regarding property and local areas of interest.
- Run daily reports (number of arrivals, departures), identify any special requests, and check reports for accuracy.
- Complete designated cashier and closing reports in the computer system.
- Count bank at the beginning and end of shift. Balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
- Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
- Successful candidates must be able to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality not only regarding hotel operations and procedures, but also (and very importantly) regarding guests.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
