GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The primary job function of a Customer Service Specialist at the Appraisal District is to provide excellent customer service, address customer inquiries and concerns, and ensure that customers receive accurate and timely assistance with their property-related matters.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responding to inquiries from property owners in a timely and professional manner.
· Providing accurate information regarding property appraisal and tax assessment processes.
· Assisting customers with completing forms and applications for exemptions or appeals.
· Collaborating with other departments to resolve customer issues or concerns.
· Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
· Educating customers on their rights and responsibilities as property owners.
· Keeping abreast of changes in property tax laws and regulations.
· Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance customer service skills and knowledge of property appraisal processes.
· Remaining calm and professional under pressure, especially when dealing with challenging situations or irate customers.
· Adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect sensitive customer information.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILILTIES:
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Excellent customer service skills
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
· Attention to detail and accuracy in handling customer information
· Knowledge of property appraisal processes and tax laws (preferred)
· Ability to work well in a team environment
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
· Knowledge of operating basic office equipment and multi-lined phone systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s Degree preferred)
· Previous experience in customer service or a related field preferred.
· Additional training in property appraisal or tax assessment may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
· Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Occasional lifting of boxes or files weighing up to 20 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
An indoor setting. Frequent exposure to computer monitors and interfacing with the public.
