Middle School Mathematics Teacher

The Swain Campus of Moravian Academy, serving children in Preschool through Grade 8 located in the Lehigh Valley seeks a full-time teacher to teach sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade math courses. This role would focus on teaching four sections comprising the following course content areas: Foundations of Middle School Math and Algebra 1. The school seeks candidates who are innovative, are savvy with technology, have a firm grasp of teaching pedagogy, and embrace the unique developmental stages of middle school students.

Swain Campus teachers meet regularly and work collaboratively within their discipline and across divisions and are actively involved in the life of the school outside their classrooms.

  • Teach and manage all aspects of day-to-day classroom operations
  • Advise or co-advise a small group of middle school students
  • Design and implement innovative instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners’ academic, social, and emotional growth
  • Conduct assessments and prepare the reporting of students’ progress and performance
  • Attend divisional, full-faculty, and parent meetings as needed
  • Maintain a well-managed, mutually respectful, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with fellow faculty members, staff, and administrators
  • Passion for teaching and children
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students
  • Training in research-based best practices and current teaching methods in mathematics education
  • Experience applying Responsive Classroom strategies a plus

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field

Background coursework in upper-level mathematics preferred

  • The Swain Campus for grades PS-8 with a 22-acre contemporary campus in the beautiful west end of Allentown, approximately 25 minutes from the Bethlehem campuses;
  • The Historic Downtown Campus for Grades PS-8 inside the national historic landmark district that is at the heart of the City of Bethlehem;
  • The Merle-Smith Campus for Grades 9-12, is situated on 120 acres of bucolic green expanse in Bethlehem Township, approximately 7 miles from downtown Bethlehem.
