SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Executive Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision of student worker(s).


POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team, the Admission Counselor is a key part of the efforts to recruit undergraduate students to Moravian University. Members of the Moravian Admissions team represent Moravian both on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college search and selection process. Plans and implements recruitment activities for a specific geographic area with the goal of recruiting and enrolling appropriately qualified students from that geographic area. Works to generate interest from appropriate students, communicate institutional value to those students, and evaluate applications for admission from those students. Specific recruitment activities will include data-informed travel, group presentations, individual meetings, reviewing applications, and basic financial aid counseling. Every counselor will be encouraged to act as a territory manager and coordinate their efforts to meet or exceed enrollment goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a geographic territory. Responsible for meeting established recruitment goals, providing analysis, and making ongoing improvements.
  • Assist students and families with all aspects of the enrollment process to the University ( e.g., college selection process, application review, and financial aid).
  • Provide excellent and clear communication with prospective students, families, and other individuals involved in the college decision process via phone, email, texting and written correspondence.
  • Perform data-informed recruitment travel. Responsibilities include attending college fairs and performing high school recruitment visits, and coordinating off-campus recruitment events.
  • Responsible for coordinating or assisting in department-wide recruitment initiatives and projects including but not limited to one of the following: marketing liaison, social media strategy, event management, coordinator of the student ambassador program, athletics liaison, coordinator of phonathon, coordination of faculty-related programs, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with guidance counselors and key educational organizations.
  • Conduct interviews and group information sessions (on- and off- campus).
  • Evaluate admission applications and make decisions.
  • Attend and assist with recruitment events (e.g., open houses, accepted student days).
  • Participate in training workshops, staff retreats, and professional conferences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various staff and faculty throughout campus.
  • Evening/weekend work is required for all aspects of the position. Overnight travel is also required.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions or their designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal Education: A bachelor's Degree from an accredited college is required; a Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Experience: One year of experience in college admission, or time spent as a student tour guide is desirable for the Admission Counselor position. At least three years of experience in a collegiate admissions office or two years of admissions experience and other appropriate professional educational experience is desirable for the Assistant Director of Admission position.
  • Additional Knowledge/Skills:
    • A valid automobile driver's license is required with the ability to travel independently.
    • Excellent communication skills and feel comfortable/confident speaking in large/small groups and with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Goal-oriented, able to work independently with limited supervision, and able to work in a team setting.
    • An appreciation for diversity, and for the strategic goals of Moravian University
    • Able to understand and use technology ( e.g., G Suite, social media, and email).
    • Flexibility to work on weekends, evenings, and overnight stays is required.
