The Adult Learning Center at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Adult Basic Education Instructor II (ADLC). This position is located at the Rowan County Adult Learning Center. The anticipated start date is January 16, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The position of Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor II at the Adult Learning Centers, operated by MSU, is primarily responsible for the instruction of adult learners (90% instruction) and maintaining student records at the Learning Centers and its learning sites (10% data entry). The ABE Instructor II is responsible for maintaining records of all students receiving instruction at the learning sites and reports as required by the Kentucky Department of Adult Education. This position will work a balanced schedule between the Learning Centers and learning sites in the counties operated by MSU.
REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree is required. The incumbent must be proficient in the basic educational skills required to provide GED instruction (reading, math, language, social studies, and science), literacy, ACT/KYOTE instruction and ESL. Also needed are proficient computer skills, excellent communication skills, ability to be flexible with work schedules and acceptance of diverse populations. A valid Kentucky driver’s license is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience as an adult education instructor or teacher is preferred. ABE Instructor II should also demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and be dedicated to the betterment of the community through education. Excellent organizational and management skills are needed.

Organizational Relationships
The ABE Instructor II reports to the Director, Adult Education and collaborates with the Assistant Director/Instructor to plan courses and recruit students. Incumbent interacts daily with adult students, learning center staff, and the general public. The program is funded by the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet (KELC)/Kentucky Adult Education and Literacy (KYAE) on an annual basis.

Some travel with overnight stays is expected for professional development. The incumbent may travel between counties to provide instruction. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
