Assistant Controller
A growing manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. Reporting directly to the Senior Controller, this role plays a critical part in financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, and supporting operations through accurate, timely financial data.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Manage core general ledger functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
- Analyze revenue, cost variances, and inventory trends; collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies.
- Lead the documentation and improvement of accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Support the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Coordinate compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and filings.
- Supervise accounting staff in daily transactional duties and month-end responsibilities.
- Collaborate on strategic planning and budgeting initiatives.
- Assist in audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support the accounting department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, and internal controls.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Syteline or similar).
- Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Office-based role with occasional plant interface.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members across departments.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
