Assistant Controller

A growing manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their accounting team. Reporting directly to the Senior Controller, this role plays a critical part in financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, and supporting operations through accurate, timely financial data.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Manage core general ledger functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
• Analyze revenue, cost variances, and inventory trends; collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Lead the documentation and improvement of accounting policies, processes, and internal controls.
• Support the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Coordinate compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and filings.
• Supervise accounting staff in daily transactional duties and month-end responsibilities.
• Collaborate on strategic planning and budgeting initiatives.
• Assist in audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as needed.
• Other duties as assigned to support the accounting department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Syteline or similar).
• Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Office-based role with occasional plant interface.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members across departments.
