Pickleball Instructor (part-time)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Teach pickleball lessons and lead pickleball programs for the Morton Grove Park District’s pickleball program under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor - Athletics.
DUTIES:
- Arrive to lessons/classes 30 minutes before the start of class wearing the assigned Park District Staff shirt.
- Set up all equipment and supplies as required. Instructors need to use their own pickleball racquet.
- Follow guidelines set by the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics.
- Notify Recreation Supervisor – Athletics and Guest Services if inclement weather causes scheduling changes.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Superintendent of Recreation and/or the Executive Director. However, in an emergency perform all duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a high school graduate, or possess a G.E.D.
- Must have a complete understanding of the game of pickleball, knowledge of the rules and minimum playing experience.
- Must be able to play pickleball and demonstrate the skills required for pickleball. Must be able to communicate effectively with others for safety purposes and to allow for coordination of work. Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations quickly while understanding procedures and policies. Instructors must abide by the guidelines and policies set by the district.
The pickleball instructors will be representing the Morton Grove Park District. It is very important that the instructors always conduct themselves in a professional manner. Additionally, they must possess a high level of energy and initiative and work cooperatively and harmoniously with patrons and fellow employees. Must be able to stand and walk for a long period of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds if needed. Pickleball Instructors are regularly exposed to outdoor conditions including sun, high humidity, wind, and excessive heat and cold.
Due to the needs of the Park District, additional evening or weekend hours may be required. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the Pickleball Instructor position. Nothing contained herein shall preclude or limit the Park District from changing this written job description through addition, deletion, or modification of essential job duties.
Schedule: 2-4 hours per week on weekday evenings during program sessions beginning mid-April. Classes for beginner to intermediate level players.
Salary Range: $40-$45/hr.
