What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment and Fund Accounting Manager position at MOSSER?
Job Summary: Responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, operations and process improvement for our Funds/REITs for our internal stakeholders and external investors.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee accounting for joint venture and fund investment entities working with the property accounting and investment management teams to produce monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidated reporting on investment portfolios.
- Prepare and review journal entries for the month-end close, including new investment purchases, sales, and distributions
- Reconcile investment balances to the general ledger accounts
- Assist with treasury management for daily cash activity, including trades, remittances, and various other receipts and disbursements.
- Assist with the monthly structured financing waterfall process, which involves coordination among the asset and financing portfolio management team, financing counterparties, agent banks, and fund administrator
- Work with investment management team in reviewing and coordinating distribution of investor reports including quarterly financials, management letters and capital account statements
- Ensure that all investment entity financial statements follow US GAAP and any official guidelines and requirements
- Oversee and coordinate the fund’s annual audit process including managing relationships with external auditors
- Oversee and coordinate annual tax reporting requirements, partnering with outside preparers
- Oversee corporate compliance with outside parties for all fund entities including REIT regulations, as applicable, and help lead process for any investor K-1 review and filings.
- Ability to multi-task between internal demands and outside deliverables
- Demonstrate a mastery of technical and subject matter expertise
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- 5-7 years’ (relevant) experience in accounting or related field
- Real Estate accounting experience (preferred)
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- CPA or MSA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to multitask and manage time, an attention to detail, planning and problem-solving skills required
- Experience in forecasting and budgeting
- Experience in developing, writing, and implementing accounting controls and processes
- Skills and experience using accounting software (Yardi a plus)
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
