About the role:
Direct Support Professional’s (DSP’s) at the Moultrie County Beacon, Inc. assist in the implementation of individual program goals, plan and implement community based activities focusing on participant’s choices, and assist the Program Director in implementation of the program.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with other agency staff to exchange information, provide advice, solve problems and maintain cooperative and efficient relations needed to accomplish established goals and objectives
- Implement the daily therapeutic program for a group of assigned individuals
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace environment for assigned areas
- Maintain a physical environment that supports individual safety, growth, and development
- Respect the dignity and basic rights of each individual
- Support individuals as they learn to adapt to and cope with real-life situations
- Assist individuals in accessing community activities
- Aiding in the transport to and from Community Day Services, options for driving or aiding individual while being transported.
- Support each individual’s emotional health, behavioral health and social development through relationships, education, and encouragement
- Perform other DSP duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of 120 hour DSP training - Provided
- Certification in CPR/First Aid training – Provided
- Ability to relate positively to participants, their families, support people and the community
- Ability to work cooperative with peers and supervisor
- Physical ability to respond to needs of individuals, such a kneeling, bending, lifting, pulling, and /or transferring individuals
- Ability to pass Criminal Background check and CANTS check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug screening
