About Us
Mount Behavioral Health is a mission-driven mental health organization dedicated to delivering person-centered, culturally responsive care. As we continue to expand our Peer Services Team, we are seeking bilingual (Spanish/English) Family Peer Advocates to support caregivers of children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs.
Position Summary
The Family Peer Advocate (FPA) will use their personal experience as a parent or primary caregiver of a child with social, emotional, developmental, health, or behavioral challenges to support other families navigating similar systems. In addition, FPA will be the point of contact for client onboarding and process such as managing consent forms, insurance documents, and family communication. Services are delivered in a hybrid/remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one peer support to parents and caregivers
- Use lived experience to build trust, empower families, and promote self-advocacy
- Assist families in navigating mental health, educational, and service systems
- Help parents understand their child’s diagnosis, treatment, and rights
- Support families with completing consent forms and insurance-related documents
- Serve as a liaison between families and the office for follow-up and coordination
- Participate in team meetings as the caregiver voice
- Maintain accurate documentation of services in compliance with OMH and agency standards
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience as the parent or primary caregiver of a child with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
- Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity
- Basic administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- Reliable internet access and ability to travel within the community as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting families within the mental health, special education, or child welfare systems
- Familiarity with Medicaid documentation and OMH guidelines
