Job Description:

The Department of Film Media Theater at Mount Holyoke invites applications for a tenure-track position in Global Film and Media Studies beginning July 1, 2025. PhD or ABD is required.

The department is interested in candidates with wide-ranging knowledge of the history and theory of film and new media in global contexts. This position will carry a 2/2 teaching load that will include introductory courses in both film and media studies. The ideal candidate should also be able to teach global cinema survey courses and courses centered on media and cultural theory. Other areas of expertise may include Third Cinema; transnational media production; global popular culture; and/or particular regional cinemas or media cultures in areas of the Global South. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of strong teaching at the undergraduate level and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, and religion.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, C.V., and statements concerning (1) research interests, (2) teaching philosophy, and (3) mentoring of a diverse student body. Applicants should submit all materials by October 6th, 2024. Reference letters will be requested at a later date in the process. Mount Holyoke is an undergraduate liberal arts college with 2,200 students and 220 faculty. Mount Holyoke College is located about 90 miles west of Boston in the Connecticut River valley, and is a member of the Five College Consortium consisting of Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts.
