What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Mountain Veterinary Hospital?
Mountain Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are looking for compassionate, motivated team players who are committed to growing their veterinary career. Previous veterinary experience preferred, animal handling experience required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Must have a strong background in customer service and display a high level of professionalism
- Detail-oriented individual with great organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Self-starter who is outgoing and friendly and enjoys connecting with others
- Gets along with the team and matches our practice philosophy
- Eager to jump in and help throughout the hospital, when needed (our team is cross-trained!)
Responsibilities/Skillset
- Answering phones and scheduling appointments
- General hospital cleaning and kennel duties
- Observing animal behavior and knowing when to alert a veterinarian
- Assisting in exam rooms
- Gentle patient restraint (small animal)
- Sample collection, nail trims, and anal gland expression
- Prepping, assisting, and cleaning for surgery
- Additional responsibilities such as venipuncture, laser therapy treatments, stem cell preparation and more, based on training and experience
Full-time Benefits and Compensation:

Mountain Veterinary Hospital is a full-service, small animal practice providing conventional medical and surgical treatment for dogs and cats as well as physical therapy, rehabilitation, and alternative medicine. Alternative medicine includes acupuncture, stem cell/platelet rich plasma therapy, and Chinese herbal medicine.
