Description

JOB SUMMARY:        Accurately schedule patients for appropriate time and needs based upon referrals.  Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of patients to the clinic.  Ensures that the patient’s information is collected, entered in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of office policies and procedures.  Accurately and in a timely manner is able to schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for clinic patients. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions into CPSI.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for scheduling patients to be seen in the office.  Accurately obtains appropriate histories, prior diagnostic tests results, and all other necessary information to facilitate constructive patient visits to the office.  Verifies healthy connection referrals are in place, if required.
  2. Responsible for obtaining signature on Condition of Admission forms.
  3. Responsible for gathering correct information for proper insurance submission. 
  4. Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians to facilitate good daily work flow.
  5.       Check for cancellations daily through reminder call.
  6.       Schedules return appointments and procedures.
  7.       Prepare charts/paperwork/consents for following days patients.
  8. Receive patient payments or a co-payment as required. Posts transactions appropriately to system. Counting money drawer and verifying correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  9. Required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
  10. Maintains office records, reports, and files as required.
  11. Responsible for knowing office policies and being familiar with what services are available through the office.
  12. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  13. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
  14. Maintains a good working relationship with in the office as well as with outside contacts.
  15. Participates in the educational programs, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
  16. Attends all other meetings as required.
  17. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  18. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
  19. Must maintain accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to office policy.
  20. Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
  21. Must maintain a professional attitude.
  22. Must wear appropriate clothing according to dress code.
  23. Willing to become a certified medical coder if opportunity arises.  (Training and additional compensation provided.)
  24. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:   

Education/Certification:  High School Diploma or higher.  Current BLS Certification. 

Experience:  Minimum of three month’s related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.  Medical Terminology is not necessary but preferable.

Equipment/Technology:  Ability to use hospital information system, electronic medical record and operate basic computer functions and software.

Language/Communication:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to patients, their families, referring offices, diagnostic and therapeutic facilities via phone, fax, computerized ordering systems and in person.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Mental Capabilities:  Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

Interpersonal:  Ability to work well with others as a team player.
