Canine Boarding and Daycare Associate

We are seeking an energetic professional with experience working in a dog daycare and boarding/kennel facility. The ideal candidate will have prior knowledge of canine behavior, group play dynamics, and dog training experience.

Responsibilities:

· Provide exceptional customer service to our clients and canine guests.

· Greet clients, answer phone, respond to inquiries, update pet records, and conduct tours of facility.

· Process reservations and payments for canine guests. Bring dogs into play area/boarding upon arrival.

· Track services and attendance using Gingr operating system.

· Properly document all care instructions for dogs – feeding, medications, and behavioral concerns.

· Note special needs of dog and make accommodations to maintain a safe, fun play environment.

· Provide feedback to client regarding activity and behavior during the pet’s stay with us.

· Schedule and conduct behavioral assessments for new canine guests.

· Identify and report any unusual behavioral or medical concerns to Manager.

· Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the facility, and care and safety of pets.

· Follow all policies and protocols to protect the health and well-being of pets in our care.

· Reports to the Manager and the Practice Owner/Veterinarian.

Canine Daycare:

· Proactively engage with dogs, and closely observe behavior, to ensure safe levels of play.

· Use proper introduction techniques when introducing a new dog into a play group.

· Use appropriate praise and positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate manners.

· Clean and disinfect indoor and outdoor play group areas – throughout day as needed.

Canine Boarding:

· Greet client and canine guest upon arrival, label food and personal items and place in designated area matching their assigned boarding suite.

· Feed dogs and administer medications, per individual care instructions.

· Properly record feeding and output notes on daily tracking report for each pet.

· Take boarding dogs outside throughout day, for exercise and breaks in outdoor play yard.

· Clean and sanitize boarding suites, water and food bowls, beds, blankets, and toys.

· Complete general cleaning duties throughout facility.

Required Qualifications:

· Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays - this is a requirement, as there is high demand for boarding services during these times

· Knowledge and work experience in animal care, canine daycare or boarding kennel

· Professional, friendly, team-oriented attitude is essential

· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

· Focus on providing exceptional customer service

· High comfort level working in a diverse and active environment

· Computer skills: Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook

· High school graduate

Desired Qualifications:

· Dog training experience or familiarity with positive reinforcement techniques

· Knowledge of canine behavior and group play dynamics

· Computer skills: Gingr software

· College level education

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to actively walk, stay standing, or maintain high level of physical activity during entire shift
  • Ability to lift and carry objects and animals of moderate weight, up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to lift, bend, kneel, crouch, push and engage in other strenuous activities
  • Ability to walk and restrain pet on leash, and hold dog for behavioral assessment, bathing and nail trim.

Work Environment:

· Work is performed in a canine daycare and boarding facility.

· Dogs and team members use outside play areas in all types of weather.

· Exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations, high noise levels (barking dogs), zoonotic diseases, animal waste, and cleaning chemicals.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
