What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Climbing Team Coach position at Movement?
Primary duties & responsibilities
- Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering and belaying
- Reports to the Team Manager and Team Supervisors to execute the season schedule and deliver the daily instruction for this level of team including Comps, Events, Training plan etc.
- Report any issues or concerns (especially safety or heath concerns for athletes) with coaching staff and the management team.
- Coach at all practices agreed upon at the time of hire, and competitions as needed based on athlete attendance.
- Monitor energy levels and support the coaching team and athletes.
- Assist Team Coach Supervisor with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, and organizing practice notes.

- Passion for working with youth and developing youth climbing athletes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
- Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached

- This position is a part-time, non-exempt position, with the potential to build a full-time role in combination with other gym duties. Benefits include a complimentary gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees.
- The pay range for this position is $16-$18/hr based on skills and previous experience.
- This position may be for any level of team and will be decided based on staffing needs and the applicant's availability, skills, experience, and interest. Proposed team level and estimated hours per week will be included in an offer letter.
- We are currently hiring for all of our youth team levels except Competitive Team
- Youth team practice times are generally between 4-7:30pm on weekdays and ~10a-4pm on weekends. Teams practice 1-3 times per week (based on level)
- Coaches are expected to regularly work all practices for the various team that they are scheduled for.
- Hours per week will generally range from 6-12hrs
