General Helper
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist Machine Operators in basic production activities as loading material into and/or also removing finished product from production machines. May be trained to operate overhead hoists or scissor lifts in conjunction with such tasks. Will receive personal protective eye and hand equipment from supervisor and instruction in the safe handling of chemicals.
2. Moving material or finished products to/from or within the production area using a forklift truck. Will receive OSHA required formal training from supervisor before driving forklift truck.
3. Performs activities in support of shipping and receiving function: a. Unloading raw material and loading finished product into tractor-trailer trucks using forklift truck. Will receive OSHA required formal training from Supervisor before driving forklift truck. b. Wrap or pack finished goods before shipment using the wrapping or strapping equipment Will receive instruction from Supervisor or lead Material Handling specialist.
4. Assist in the preparation/mixing of coatings according to written instructions and training provided by Supervisor. Employee will receive necessary personal eye and glove protective equipment and instruction in the safe handling of chemicals from Supervisor.
5. Performs light maintenance of facility including the cleaning of floor and equipment as directed by Supervisor. May also assist Maintenance Department personnel in painting, shoveling snow, etc.
6. Supports MPI’s ISO-9001 quality assurance program and maintains up-to-date knowledge of the programs applicable established directives and procedures.
7. Assists/performs other duties as may be directed by Supervisor.
Performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, bend, stoop, walk, talk, see and hear; use hands/fingers to grasp and operate machine controls, or to operate forklift steering wheel and controls, or operate computer terminal; use of one foot to operate forklift’s foot brake and accelerator; to get into and out of the forklifts driver’s seat/ and to reach with hands and arms. Must be able, on a regular basis, to lift weights of approximately 75 lbs.
Education/Experience: Education: High School graduate or recognized equivalent in training or experience. Must have basic knowledge mathematics (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages) and linear measurement.
Experience: prefer some experience in a manufacturing environment. Requires some demonstrated mechanical aptitude or abilities. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
