Job Summary :
The Director is responsible for direction and oversight of services in accordance with MRC's strategic plan, policies and procedures, Community Mental Health, Medicaid, CARF, DOL and other applicable standards. They will be a Thought Leader.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide leadership and direction to assigned staff and programs. Assign responsibility and exact accountability for results.
- Participate in the agency leadership team and provide necessary strategic feedback that enhances program development, assists in strategic planning, develops program budgets, and drives successful outcomes for targeted program and agency goals.
- Assure tracking and compliance with funding source contract goals.
- Stay informed on market trends, suggesting improvements to existing business strategies to drive growth.
- Manage and contribute to strategic projects utilizing problem solving frameworks.
- Maintains staff by selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth, and promoting teamwork within programs and the leadership team.
- Develop and / or assist with updating job descriptions and perform regular staff evaluations.
- Determine and enforce performance standards; collect critical data and compile on a regular basis for use in operational decision making.
- Make recommendations for hire. Orient, train, and develop staff for positions under supervision. Recommend updates to job descriptions and perform regular staff evaluations.
- Provide leadership to staff to ensure effective organization and structure.
- Make recommendations for MRC policies and develop procedures for assigned areas as needed.
- Assure compliance with all applicable CARF, DCH / CMH, Medicaid, DOL, OSHA, ADA, and other local, state, and federal regulations and MRC policies and procedures.
- Keep staff informed of MRC's overall mission, strategic plan, and goals of the agency.
- Keep CEO informed of all personnel, program, and customer service issues.
- Develop and maintain a community presence at networking and business functions to develop and nurture relationships and promote the Community Employment and McKercher programs.
- Act as an MRC client advocate, providing leadership to assure that MRC clients are moving toward maximum integration, productivity, and independence. Make recommendations for program development and additional business / revenue opportunities.
- Assist in development of assigned budget. Monitor and ensure compliance with budgetary objectives.
- Manage physical locations and vehicles, assuring security and maintenance procedures are followed.
- Provide clinical leadership to staff to ensure appropriate programming and operational decisions occur.
- Train and monitor staff in the development of assessment, goals, and service planning.
- Assure client case records are maintained in compliance with standards. Direct and train staff in required recordkeeping.
- Actively support and be knowledgeable about 1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices, 2) person-centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual who defines his or her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid clients in their recovery process.
- Assist staff to use person-centered planning processes to maximize client involvement.
- Cooperate with Access and other agencies that serve clients. Raise issues, advocate, and problem-solve to achieve the best possible results for clients.
- Process authorizations in a timely manner to assure timely provision of service and payment.
- Monitor and ensure oversight of production contracts, assuring that deadlines and quality assurance processes are adhered to.
- In conjunction with sales and production staff assure accuracy of the bidding process.
- Assure that time studies follow Department of Labor requirements.
- Coordinate prevailing wage surveys on an annual basis.
- Direct and perform special activities as requested by the CEO.
- Work in conjunction with other community service agencies to promote the availability of services for people with developmental disabilities in Kalamazoo, to promote coordination, and to ensure high quality of services.
- Assist the CEO to advocate for clients in the development of state and county appropriations, legislation, and policies and procedures.
- Assist the CEO in public relations and community education about MRC and the needs of its clients.
- Completes other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
