Job Summary
As a Skill Coach, you will play a key role in supporting individuals with disabilities by helping them build personal, social, and daily living skills. You’ll meet clients where they are—at home, in a facility, or in the community—and guide them toward their unique goals. Whether it’s going to the library, learning to shop independently, or building confidence through conversation, your job is to provide hands-on support while encouraging growth and participation every step of the way.
This is an entry-level position, perfect for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and eager to make a difference. Training is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport and accompany clients to community activities, events, or volunteer opportunities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with clients while promoting independence, confidence, and communication
- Support individual goals as outlined in the person-centered service plan, such as social skills, daily living tasks, or personal safety
- Complete detailed case notes after each session, documenting progress and identifying next steps
- Collaborate regularly with families, residential staff, and other providers to ensure consistent, goal-aligned support
- Engage clients in meaningful activities like arts and crafts, nature walks, community outings, and small group events
- Encourage inclusion and participation in daily life, focusing on each client’s strengths and interests
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safety, confidentiality, and respect at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in human services, social work, or related fields is a plus, but not required
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
- Comfortable driving clients to and from activities
- Must pass a background check and complete required trainings
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for helping others
- Ability to work independently and adapt to client needs in real time
