PLEASANT LAKE ELEMENTARY MONTESSORI
Montessori Elementary Teacher
We are currently accepting applications for an American Montessori Society (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) teacher to join us beginning January 6, 2025. Successful applicants must have an AMS or AMI certificate and a bachelor’s degree, dedication to the Montessori philosophy, strong classroom management skills, the ability to build strong and supportive relationships with parents and fellow staff members, and a love for working with children. Must have satisfactory Safe Hiring Solutions Extended National Criminal History and Indiana DCS check. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate
and implement the Montessori curriculum by developing classroom and outdoor
activities based on Montessori pedagogy and developmentally appropriate
practices.
Plan
and coordinate field trips and community partnerships to enrich the learning
opportunities for children.
Plan
individual and group age-appropriate lessons to actively engage children and
encourage social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth following the
Montessori approach and addressing the Indiana Academic Standards.
Ensure
a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and
cleanliness standards and the safety and security of children.
Supervise
and collaborate with assistants and volunteers to ensure they follow planned
activities and maintain the classroom atmosphere.
Lead
by example; encourage team success through collaboration, modeling, and
coaching.
Maintain
frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress
reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
Ensure
all school policies and state requirements are met.
Maintain
accurate records.
Maintain
a personal professional development plan to maintain Montessori certification
and ensure continuous quality improvement.
Engage
as a problem-solving member of the team to continuously improve.
Salary: Based on the published Teacher Salary Schedule
