What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant position at MSU Northwestern Agricultural Research Center?
The Northwestern Agricultural Research Center (NWARC) is located near Kalispell, MT, and is an integral part of Montana State University. NWARC is one of the seven Research Centers comprising the Department of Research Centers. Scientists at NWARC conduct agricultural field and laboratory researches, interact with farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, and MSU Cooperative Extension Service.
Job Description:
- Seasonal spring/summer position available 30-40 hours per week.
- Assist with farm operations including: general crop production, research trial establishment, and general grounds keeping.
- Field work includes assisting with the establishment and maintenance of research plots, assist in data collection in agronomic studies, and the operation of small farm equipment.
- Laboratory work includes data entry, processing plant and grain samples (e.g. weighing, counting) and lab maintenance.
- Ability to work with others in a team atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors under a variety of conditions
