What You'll Do
- Facilitating food service by setting tables, serving food and beverages, and replenishing supplies like silverware, glassware, and condiments.
- Cleaning and maintaining dining and kitchen areas, including wiping tables, mopping floors, and polishing counters and equipment.
- Handling and storing food with the utmost care, adhering to sanitation and food-handling standards.
- Assisting the cook in coordinating meal serving times to maintain food quality, temperature, and presentation.
- Recovering and washing dirty dishes while minimizing breakage.
- Checking incoming merchandise and helping with storage organization.
- Alerting supervisors to shortages or equipment issues.
- Supporting and complying with all company policies and procedures.
- Light janitorial service including sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, taking out trash/recycling, dusting, and other upkeep as needed/directed.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High school education preferred.
- Skills:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong customer service orientation and active listening skills.
- Knowledge of basic English language principles, including grammar and composition.
- Social perceptiveness and a willingness to help others.
- Personal Attributes:
- High degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to work cooperatively and compatibly with others.
- Experience: Prior experience in dietary work is helpful but not required.
Working Conditions
You’ll work in well-lit, ventilated areas but should be comfortable with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures in the kitchen and storerooms. The role involves standing, walking, and lifting throughout the day, so physical stamina is important.
