What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer position at Mt. Sterling Police Department?
Now hiring for a full time police officer! Preferable candidate will have a current KY POPS Certifiction, but it is not required.
Successful candidate will be able to:
- Deter crimes and assure community safety through high-visibility policing
- Investigate crimes and apprehend suspected law violators
- Patrol assigned areas and monitor activities to protect people/property
- Conduct initial investigations
- Gather evidence and ensure successful prosecutions
- Observe and respond to various situations or emergencies
- Attend and provide evidence in court
Applicant must :
- Be a US Citizen
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have no felony convictions
- Be legally able to possess a firearm
- Not have anything other than an honorable discharge from the military (if candidate served)
- Be able to pass an extensive background check
- If KY POPS certified, you must be in good standing.
