POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for the preparation of comprehensive construction cost estimates across all disciplines, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals. This arrangement emphasizes the need for flexibility and adaptability in diverse working conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Project Evaluation and Bidding Strategy:
· Review and evaluate proposed projects with upper management to determine suitability.
· Assist in determining project types to bid, along with bid strategies and techniques.
· Review bid documents for areas of concerns
· Develop cost advantages.
· Prepare and submit pre-bid requests for information/clarification.
· Solicit subcontractors and suppliers as applicable, and review proposals for completeness.
· Estimating Department Management:
· Develop and implement quality control systems.
· Review estimates for adequacy, uniformity, and completeness.
· Prepare detailed breakdowns and takeoffs of components for estimates.
· Accumulate and evaluate historical cost data for future estimates.
· Budgeting and Cost Control
· Assist the project managers in the preparation of project budgets.
· Work closely with the accounting team to share cost information from the estimate.
· Client Relations and Subcontractor Engagement:
· Engage actively in client development and enhance customer relations.
· Identify and analyze value engineering ideas.
· Create enthusiasm in the subcontractor community for prospective projects.
· Utilize and maintain a subcontractor/vendor database.
· Develop strategies to engage small, Minority, Women and Veteran-Owned businesses.
· Contract and Proposal Management:
· Review contract documents for scope and cost allowance for changes.
· Incorporate cost analysis from historical projects, orders, and contracts.
· Develop conceptual estimates, preliminary budgets, unit price and lump sum bids.
· Analyze proposals with project managers for awarding qualified low bidders.
· Organize records post-award to assist project managers with proposal pricing.
· Scope and Specification Development:
· Write specifications to define the company's scope of work.
· Develop scopes of work for sub-trades.
· Collaborate with the Project Manager in managing the design team (Architect & Engineers) on Design-Build projects.
· Relationship Building:
· Develop relationships with prospective clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.Top of Form

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Relevant Commercial Construction Estimating experience, including conceptual budgeting.
· 4-year degree in Construction Management or Engineering Preferred.
· 3-5 Years construction estimating experience.
· Must have experience in cost code allocation and budget controls.
