What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Health Clinic CMA/ LVN position at Muenster Memorial Hospital?
JOB SUMMARY: Performs various office and clinical duties to assist in keeping patient load flowing efficiently. Works directly with Providers in collecting test samples, maintaining patient records, and explaining common medical procedures to patients and assisting in basic examinations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Medical Assistant Certification – CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, CMAA
- Current BLS certification.
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Previous clerical experience with medical terminology and insurance background preferred.
- At least 1 year of CMA experience.
TECHNICAL TRAINING:
- Working knowledge and competent capabilities in computer technology.
- Have knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of this position require:
- Requires extending periods of sitting, walking, and standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Employees must occasionally lift/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Analytical skills: must be able to understand and follow medical charts and diagnoses.
- Detail oriented: must be precise when taking vital signs or recording patient information.
- Interpersonal skills:must be able to discuss patient information with other medical personnel, such as physicians, and interact with patients in a calm and professional manner.
- Technical skills: Must use basic clinical instruments to a patient’s vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure. Including Pediatric patients/immunizations.
TASKS
- Record patient history, personal information and any procedure performed by physician into patient’s medical records.
- Measure vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history prior to each appointment.
- Help the physician with patient examinations.
- Give patients injections or medications as directed by the physician and/or as permitted by the state of Texas.
- Prepare samples and/or orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to the patient’s appointment.
- May work in office taking care of tasks such as answering phone calls, greeting patients and scheduling appointments and follow ups.
- Assist the nurse and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new material as needed.
- Helping with the other providers’ workloads.
- Opening or Closing Clinic as needed.
- Other tasks as needed or assigned by clinic director.
