Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate supports and assistance by enhancing independence through teaching skills. The DSP is responsible for promoting independence, dignity, and respect while ensuring the safety and well-being of those they serve.
Duties
- Help an Individual and their family with a create a meaningful day and become part of their community.
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and teaching skills needed for independence.
- Work on teaching health habits by learning to make simple healthy meals and/or going to the gym or walking in their community.
- Assist in shopping for their personal item or go to lunch while working on learning money. spending and budgeting.
- Work on skills of employment and help them give back to their community through volunteer opportunities.
- Support individual's in engaging in recreational and social activities to foster community integration an opportunities for friendships.

Skills
- Knowledge of individuals rights and advocacy principles.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or other special needs.
- Ability to monitor vital signs and recognize changes individuals health status.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality care in a respectful manner.
- Physical capability to lift individuals safely as required.
- Must have a drivers license with a clean driving record and safe and reliable vehicle.
- Must pass a CORI and Fingerprint background check.
- Must be 18 years or older with High School Diploma
