BMETII is responsible for providing preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and equipment evaluations of medical equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Performs first line repairs on all defective instrumentation and conducts performance test to insure that equipment is functioning properly before returning to patient service.
- Orders repair parts and/or components as required, cross-referencing wherever possible in order to obtain the most advantageous cost factor.
- Performs incoming inspections on all new, trail and demonstration units before they are placed into patient service.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections procedures to optimize performance, reliability and projected life expectancy of Medical Center instrumentation.
- Executes pick-ups and delivers instrumentations to the various Medical Center units for service and/or preventive maintenance, or supplies and equipment from local vendors as directed.
- Performs back-up for the secretary by answering the telephone and record all messages; i.e., date, time, name and telephone number of the caller.
- Consults with the Supervisor or Senior Technologist before proceeding with complex or sophisticated problems, which may develop during the course of service, incoming or preventive maintenance procedures.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. AS degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology preferred.
2. Minimum 2 years experience working in Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Exhibits a basic understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported.
4. Can provide basic support of acuity equipment for direct patient care.
5. Is familiar with the operations and environment that they support (hospital, clinic, etc.).
6. Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMMS, and NJDOH standards.
7. Experience in a hospital or industrial environment with experience in hospital related equipment.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
