JOB SUMMARY
Plans and conducts dance classes that meet members’ needs, industry standards, and program guidelines. We are currently seeking a part-time instructor with specific experience in Tap & Ballet. A wide range of abilities and knowledge of other dance disciplines preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans and conducts dance classes. Prepares music and choreography in advance of class. Assumes responsibility of all recorded music. Ensures that music is appropriately utilized, and that tempo and volume fits class needs. Ensures choreography is appropriate for age group and/or skill level of the class. Ensures that class begins with thorough warm-up and emphasizes proper technique to ensure safe execution. Ensures that all aspects of class have variety, are creative and utilize the appropriate form, rhythm, modification, and energy to meet class members’ needs, industry standards and program guidelines. Follows and enforces Dance Department guidelines for dress code and proper classroom behavior. Records attendance and maintains payroll sheet. Arranges substitutes for classes according to program guidelines. Attends instructor conferences when offered and takes initiative for further professional development. Turns off transmitter and microphone and replaces them neatly in cabinet after each class. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the leadership team. Checks voicemail and e-mail frequently for departmental updates, makes class announcements and distributes written information to classes as necessary. Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor. Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Makes sure studio is in order after class is over. Participates in department-related activities as needed. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Participates in all club-related training classes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential job functions require the ability to instruct dance classes and work in an indoor work environment requiring regular physical movement, often from and while in a standing position.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least three years of teaching experience in a professional environment. Some professional performing experience preferred. Ability to work in a team environment. Effective verbal communication skills. Professional communication skills with large groups, with ability to show sensitivity to a diverse membership. Positive, enthusiastic approach to classes and program. Ability to perform the essential job functions
