About the job:
MCU is seeking a dedicated, hardworking, analytical candidate with a proven track record of performance and results-oriented thinking to join the team. The selected candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to detection, prevention and mitigation of emerging fraud trends from all channels.
This position relies heavily on analytical and problem solving abilities, including the keen sense to recognize non-obvious patterns, analyze data sets and work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to recommend solutions in this ever changing fraud environment particular the Digital Wallet space, cyber fraud, cyber security, cyber-crime. This position also relies on excellent judgment to plan and execute goals and the development of dashboards for the Director of Security & Fraud and the Executive team.
Responsible for supporting departmental goals and initiatives by identifying emerging cyber-fraud trends with a line of sight on all internal and external systems currently utilized by MCU and all future systems. This will support the Director of Security & Fraud’s mission for developing a 360 view of all financial crimes occurring against MCU known individuals or other parties. Continuously work to understand and mitigate losses to ensure the highest level of loss avoidance, reduction and mitigation
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Be a valuable contributor to influence operational best practices with the SFD.
- Review daily execution of new/special projects.
- Review and Analyze daily data to identify fraud trends.
- Proactively seek to improve efficiency, reduce and mitigate losses.
- Identifying new and emerging fraud trends and patterns particularly in the Digital Wallet Space.
- Develop, recommend and deploy counter measures and analyze impact for SFD in the Cyber fraud space.
- Review, Monitor and analyze fraud rule strategies for performance trending.
- Create and Test rule strategies prior to deployment. Manage and deploy rules 24x7x365.
- Refine and Test strategies against historical transaction data and emerging trends.
- Report daily fraud trending and cluster of activity (inbound and outbound).
- Report daily information to the Director of Security & Fraud.
- Support all of other fraud areas with the Security & Fraud Department.
What you’ll bring:
- Experienced analyst in the financial industry, digital wallet or cyber space
Rule writing ability and experience with Visa, Master Card a plus
Omni Channel experience. ACH, Wire, Remote Deposit Capture, MoneyGram - SQL, i2 LexisNexis, Tableau, Alkami, Q2, Visa DPS, CAMS, Falcon Alerts, Looker, nCino, Jack Henry, Episys, Verafin, Fiserv ( Nice to have but not all required)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in relative field of work
- Industry recognized certifications, such as a CFE, GIAC or SANS is a plus.
- Knowledge of Federal & NYS Laws, Regulatory, Risk Compliance rules.
- Flexible hours as required.
- The ability to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent organization skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management & meeting deadlines.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Proven initiative to be a self-starter and proactive approach.
- Professional appearance demeanor.
- Must be able to demonstrate a team mentality.
- Ability to display professional maturity, sound judgment and experience.
- A certain degree of inquisitiveness, skepticism, creativity, diplomacy, and ethical standards is required.
- These responsibilities are generally performed in an office environment Monday to Friday.
