What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Assistant STEAM Preschool Teacher position at Museum at Prairiefire STEAM Academy?
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the direction and overall supervision of a group of STEAM preschool children. Performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. Works cooperatively with the lead teacher to discuss and aid in the implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, incorporating the Kansas Department of Education Standards.
SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB
Work with the teaching team in all activities, including but not limited to:
- housekeeping, toilet training, and meal service and record-keeping
- Share responsibility in the preparation of Daily Plans and the preparation of teaching materials
- Conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children, sharing responsibility for large-group activities and using appropriate adult/child interactions strategies with all children
- Assume responsibility for a classroom at any given time
- Collects required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments
- Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members Supervise daily lunch and playground activities, field trips, and walks
- Promote individualized attention for children by freeing teachers from routine duties
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Preschool CDA credential or an Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
- Must attend training classes designed to broaden professionalism, education, and skill involving child care and development as required by Federal and State regulations and Administration.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Acquire knowledge of the current curriculum and implement the curriculum practices in the classroom
BACKGROUND: The Museum at Prairiefire (MAP) was established in 2010 based on a pioneering content partnership with the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). Focused on enhancing public understanding of natural history and science, we proudly present an ongoing flow of world-class traveling exhibitions organized by the American Museum of Natural History and other cultural and educational institutions in the nation. The Museum at Prairiefire also offers engaging permanent halls and experiences, educational programs for all ages, and our Discovery Room, an exciting gateway to hands-on scientific exploration for children ages three and older featuring insight into 6 major fields of scientific study. Because of the amazing library of STEAM lessons, the Museum has collected over the years the addition of a STEAM Preschool was naturally the next step. The Museum is the cultural anchor of Prairiefire, and these students get to be in the middle of it.
