About Us:
Music Memory Lane is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults—especially those with memory loss—through music-centered engagement. Our sessions combine nostalgic playlists, storytelling, and movement to spark joy, enhance cognitive function, and encourage meaningful social interaction.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate college student to support our Marketing and Public Relations efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of aging, creative arts and nonprofit marketing. Interns will assist in developing session content, promoting events and raising awareness about our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Programming (Memory Care Focused):
- Assist in designing therapeutic music sessions for seniors using playlists, movement and memory prompts
- Help coordinate and document on-site or virtual sessions
- Research era-specific music, dances and cultural moments for themed sessions
- Capture anecdotal stories or responses from participants (with consent) for impact storytelling
Marketing & Outreach:
- Create and schedule engaging social media content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Draft newsletters, flyers, and blog-style content for our website
- Help build our online presence and expand outreach to families, senior centers, and community partners
- Assist with event promotion and campaign planning
- Maintain website with new, compelling images, videos and lived experience narratives on a regular basis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for working with older adults and/or interest in music, psychology, marketing, human services or sociology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Social media savvy (Canva, Instagram Reels, etc.)
- Detail-oriented, creative and self-motivated
- Reliable transportation if attending in-person sessions in the Atlanta metropolitan area
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain real-world experience in nonprofit program development and outreach
- Develop content marketing and communication strategies
- Learn to engage and support memory care residents with dignity and joy
- Understand the logistics of nonprofit event planning and community engagement
