Seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Transportation Division, team to join our growing team located in either our Vernon Hills or Schaumburg offices.
How you will make an impact:
The Senior Project Manager position will report to the Division Director and will play a critical role in the evolution of the Transportation Engineering practice at GHA, which includes a variety of roadway and highway improvement projects for Local, County, and State agencies. This position supervises the delivery of various projects and has responsibilities to secure new contracts. The individual should possess a thorough understanding of roadway design, horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage, and/or traffic analysis disciplines.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership. Collaborating with the Division Director to shape and expand the Transportation Division’s service offerings, market presence, and revenue.
Client & Team Management. Coordinate directly with clients and internal teams to ensure successful delivery of projects – on time and within budget – while meeting technical requirements and regulatory standards.
Business Development. Support proposal development, pursuit strategies, and relationship-building with clients and consultant partners. Identify new business opportunities by maintaining relationships with existing clients and pursuing strategic new partnerships. Represent GHA at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to raise visibility and strengthen professional connections.
Project Oversight. Manage Phase I and Phase II projects including roadway rehabilitation, intersection improvements, traffic signals, pedestrian and bicycle facility enhancements, and corridor planning. Client types include Local, County, and State DOTs.
Stakeholder Engagement. Lead project meetings, agency coordination, client presentations, and public forums such as public information meetings and public hearings.
Mentorship. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, supporting a hybrid work environment and helping build team training programs.
Quality Assurance. Uphold and contribute to continuous improvement of the Division’s Quality Management Plan.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Illinois.
Experience:
15 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering
Familiarity with Bentley CAD Software (Microstation/OpenRoads Designer) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Broad understanding of transportation design principles including roadway design, traffic studies, environmental documentation, and planning.
Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and pursuing public infrastructure contracts.
Valid Illinois Driver’s License and access to a registered, insured vehicle.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
