Press Assistant Job Description
Job Title: Press Assistant
Department: Press
Reports To: Vice President of Production
Summary
Assists Press Operator to make ready and operate multiunit, web-fed press to print direct mail according to written specifications by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Load heavy rolls of paper onto the printing press
- Unloading heavy stacks of paper off of the printing press
- Loading light loads of ink into the printing press
- Operate a forklift on a daily basis and record keeping of materials used in the printing process
Qualifications/Abilities:
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Mechanical and technical skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good time management skills
- Manufacturing equipment or machine operator skills preferred
- Computer skills/knowledge preferred
- Forklift experience preferred

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
