Basic Summary of Position

Tokai Carbon Graphite Solutions (TCGS) is a unified organization formed from Tokai Carbon USA, MWI Inc., and Electro Tech Machining (ETM) effective January 1, 2026. TCGS manufactures engineered carbon and graphite products including isostatic graphite, fine carbon, CVD SiC coatings, solid CVD SiC, glassy carbon, and provides purification and precision machining services for high‑performance applications.


The Process Engineer supports production by improving manufacturing processes, ensuring consistency and quality of graphite and related products. Developing accurate job travelers to support repeatable, compliant, and efficient operations.


Essential Functions:


Process Development & Optimization

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, workflows, and production layouts.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and data‑driven methodologies.
  • Define and validate process parameters to ensure consistent quality and throughput.
  • Lead experiments, trials, and capability studies to support new product introduction (NPI) and process improvements.


Production Documentation & Job Travelers

  • Create detailed job travelers defining routing, machining operations, furnace cycles, purification steps, inspection requirements, and tooling specifications.
  • Maintain full revision control to reflect engineering changes, customer requirements, and continuous improvement updates.
  • Ensure job travelers comply with TCGS quality certifications (ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ITAR) across its divisions.
  • Work with Quality and Production to ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and supports full product traceability.


Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide real‑time support to resolve production issues, deviations, and equipment performance problems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Working as part of the Engineering team, collaborate with Maintenance to implement equipment improvements, preventative measures, and upgrades


Documentation, Compliance & Quality

  • Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and process documentation aligned with TCGS quality standards and certifications.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Ensure all processes support requirements for high‑purity carbon and graphite materials used in critical applications.


Project & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Lead or support process improvement projects from concept through execution and validation.
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to align process improvements with business needs.
  • Develop project schedules, track milestones, and report performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Sales to ensure manufacturability and consistency across all graphite products.
  • Use Lean/Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement.


Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor production data and analyze trends related to scrap, rework, cycle time, equipment downtime, and yield.
  • Use statistical tools to identify process variation and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare performance reports and maintain dashboards for key process indicators.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.


Experience

  • 2–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with job travelers, production documentation, ERP/MES systems, and continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.


Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, process control, and quality systems.
  • Proficient with data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or Power BI or equivalent software.


Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Clear communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and collaborate across departments.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive.


Compensation

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to the candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $70,000 – $120,000 per year.

Salary : $70,000 - $120,000
