POSITION TITLE: Independent Living Skills Trainer

LOCATION: Scranton, PA

Our Center for Independent Living in Scranton, PA offers five core independent living services and coordinated service plans to 10 northeastern PA counties. We are looking for a passionate Independent Living Skills Trainer to join our team!

THE ROLE DEFINED: Reporting to the Director of Independent Living Services, the Independent Living Skills Trainer will provide life skills training to consumers in their home, community, school, or organizational setting.

RESPONSBILITIES:

• Assist adults with disabilities in designing plans to meet personal, job, and career goals.
• Areas of skills training include but are not limited to transportation, housing, self-care, education, employment, benefits, and use of assistive technology.
• Assists consumers in developing short-term and long-term goals.
• Researches and offers information to consumers regarding life skill opportunities and trainings.
• All plans are recorded and monitored in a reporting database which must be completed each month.
• Travel is required throughout 10 county service areas which include: Bradford, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Monroe, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in social services area required.
• Exceptional organization skills required.
• Proficiency in Office Applications.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Must have strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Proof of a Registered Vehicle for use.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License required.
• Proof of Auto Insurance required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

• May involve bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting on occasion.

• Travel is required.
