JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to support the Project Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of assigned projects. The Assistant Superintendent participates in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and communications with the architect and consultants on field and constructability issues. Occasional travel is required. This position reports to the Project Superintendent.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with contractual and quality standards.
- Assisting in scheduling and directing the daily activities of work and taking necessary action to assure that the project objectives of cleanliness, safety, price, schedule, quality and process are met.
- Maintaining daily paperwork such as field reports, schedule updates and e-mail correspondence to keep the various people involved with the project informed of important issues.
- Implementing incremental project schedules that make sure upcoming events are on track and are being proactively attended to.
- May be assigned responsibility for a segment of a Project.
- Assists Project Manager and Superintendent in the development and updating of the CPM Construction Schedule.
- Provide administrative support to the project Superintendent.
- Provides leadership and guidance to the project staff.
- Maintains and supports safety programs by promoting and maintain a culture that values safety, health and cleanliness.
- Assists in establishing, maintaining, and leading the on-site Total Quality Management Process.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of the project closeout process.
- Conducting and/or attending pre-construction, progress and other project and staff meetings.
- Participating in training and other forms of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assists Superintendent with the SWPPP Program.

Construction Skills

- Has a working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work.
- Understands the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required skills needed but not limited to the following:
- A.S. degree in construction management or similar.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor.
- Experience in managing a direct hire workforce and subcontractors.
- Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry.

Salary : $37,500 - $47,500
