The Director, Security Operations is responsible for overall management of the security operations at the SPE studio lot and local properties in Culver City, CA. Reporting to the Vice President of Security Operations and Security Technology, this position also serves as primary corporate security adviser and law enforcement liaison. The Director is charged with defining operating procedures; creating and managing force deployment; developing policies, standards and guidelines; assisting investigations and advising on threat assessments. The Director also manages security service providers and ensures quality control, fiscal responsibility and top of the line readiness through training and development. Additionally, this position is responsible for developing and managing the Security Operations budget (approximately $6M total annual spend).

This is a hands-on operational role located on-site at the Sony lot in Culver City, CA.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive physical security strategies and policies.
  • Oversee the daily operations of security personnel, including hiring, training, and supervision.
  • Develop and lead company-wide security initiatives, fostering an open security culture by educating senior leadership, managers, and employees, and raising awareness across the business teams and sites.
  • Conduct internal risk assessments and security audits and recommend enhancements to improve security.
  • Liaise with government agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide feedback and enhancement requests on security systems, infrastructure, and architectural design to improve facility security and guard deployment efficiency.
  • Develop emergency response and crisis management plans, conducting regular drills and training.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, GSOC, Special Events, Production Services and GTM teams to ensure a cohesive approach to overall SPE security.
  • Coordinate security efforts during high-profile events and visits to company facilities.
  • Prepare and manage budget for Security Operations department, including annual budgeting, forecasting and mid-range planning (MRP).
  • Foster relationships with local law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Prepare regular reports for executive management on security status and incident response.
  • Keep abreast of the latest security trends and technologies, implementing innovative solutions as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure consistent security practices and measured response.
  • Driving and delivering safety and security advice at SPE sponsored events.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in physical security, preferably in entertainment or campus security environment.
  • Strong understanding of physical security technology and its role in supporting operations.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of security professionals and interfacing with executive leadership.
  • Proven track record of implementing and enhancing security policies and procedures.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to respond effectively to high-pressure situations.
  • Experience in managing security at multiple facilities.
  • Goal setting and results driven leader who is highly organized and data driven.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or commensurate work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Professional security certification (CPP, PSPetc).
  • Familiarity with GSOC principles and practices.
  • Skilled in crisis management and emergency response planning.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of the use of AI in supporting security operations.
  • Entertainment Industry experience.

  • Continually conducting research on and executing security management solutions to maintain safety, provide a competitive advantage, and advise on emerging security technologies
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure consistent security practices and measured response
  • Driving and delivering safety and security advice at SPE sponsored events

The anticipated base salary for this position is $154,000-$188,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
