What are the responsibilities and job description for the Actuarial Analyst position at N&D?

Responsibilities:

  • Perform rate reviews by state and line of business, including rate indications, disruption analyses, and state filing exhibits
  • Research competitor pricing and product changes, as well as competitor growth and profitability trends
  • Develop up to date insurance products with sophisticated yet easy-to-use pricing for possible expansion into new states
  • Investigate specific questions posed by management- e.g. how the mix of business is shifting in a given state, why a book of business is deteriorating, or how changes in case reserving are impacting results
  • Support Actuarial team members with work relating to reserving and reinsurance pricing and renewals
  • Document methodologies and findings for senior management in a manner understandable to a non-actuarial audience
  • Keep current on industry and company developments
  • Perform related work as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Excel, including VBA macros, is required
  • Experience with SQL, R, and/or Python is a plus
  • Strong background in mathematics and statistics
  • General knowledge of business and finance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects
