Build the controls backbone for a new rocket motor facilityAt Nammo Energetics (NEI)—the Nammo Group division establishing a solid rocket motor manufacturing site in Perry, Florida—you’ll turn a greenfield vision into a precision production reality. From our downtown Perry office, you’ll collaborate daily with design, process, quality, and maintenance engineering to make sure the systems that produce and test munitions meet exacting technical standards. Early in your journey, you’ll also travel to Raufoss, Norway (within your first 12–18 months) to align with global experts. This role is on-site and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (Requires U.S. Citizenship).A day in the lifeYour morning starts by reviewing commissioning plans for new equipment headed to the rocket motor lines. Before lunch, you’re translating process requirements into PLC/HMI logic, selecting safety-rated components, and sketching electrical panel layouts. In the afternoon, you’re shoulder-to-shoulder with maintenance, analyzing arc-flash calculations, refining hazardous location wiring designs, and documenting schematics in AutoCAD Electrical. You close the day prioritizing improvements that enhance safety, quality, throughput, and cost.What you’ll ownDesign, program, and test PLC/HMI/VFD systems; produce complete electrical schematics.Lead equipment selection and purchasing for the new rocket motor facility.Plan, transition, and commission new equipment into production.Design and specify electrical panels and components to meet safety and electrical requirements, including hazardous location wiring codes.Document panel layouts and electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical 2024.Perform and interpret arc‑flash hazard analyses and calculations.Troubleshoot and optimize PLC control logic to improve safety, quality, production, and cost.Ensure installations comply with all applicable codes and regulations.Identify and implement design improvements for new and existing equipment; determine corrective and preventive actions.Be the primary technical point for controls troubleshooting.Define preventive maintenance tasks and create documentation for maintenance teams.Partner with maintenance and operations on PM, predictive maintenance, machine repair, performance, and design upgrades.Promote positive employee relations and follow our Affirmative Action Plan, labor laws, and EEOC rules and regulations.Uphold company policies, environmental/health/safety standards, and strong housekeeping practices.What you bringBachelor’s degree in engineering (Controls/Electrical preferred) or a combination of education and 5 years’ relevant experience.3 years supporting semi-automated and manual processes in a manufacturing environment.Hands-on expertise with Siemens PLC S7‑1500 and related platforms: SIMATIC Step 7 Professional TIA Portal V20, Step 7 Safety Advanced V20, Sinamics Startdrive Advanced V20, WinCC Advanced V20, and WinCC Runtime Advanced V20 (PC-based interface), or comparable Siemens toolchains.
