What are the responsibilities and job description for the Birth to 3 Parent Educator - Part-time position at Naperville Community Unit School District 203?
- Attend the Foundational and Model Implementation trainings through Parents as Teachers curriculum and utilize national program support for best practices also participating in related in-services, meetings and professional development activities
- Participate in trainings through Fussy Baby Network using FAN approach
- Conduct assessment of students to include developmental screening and other assessments as needed (family needs, parent/child interactions), within home and community including for recruitment purposes
- Participate in Individual Family Service/Support Plans
- Collaborate with state’s Early Intervention professionals regarding evaluations, possible programming and transitions
- Communicate student information to parents and maintain open lines of communication
- Collect and input data into program’s electronic data collection system accurately and assist in data collection
- Become familiar with community services and opportunities to best serve their families
- Participate in regularly scheduled reflective supervision and infant/early childhood mental health consultations
- Conduct home visits as appropriate to program requirements, possibly including nights and/or weekends maintaining flexibility in scheduling
- Provide an environment supportive of the student/family emotional and social needs
- Design and implement activities which are developmentally appropriate
- Plan, facilitate and participate in family nights and group connections, utilizing school facilities and community resources to develop school and community awareness
- Partnering with parents to gain a greater understanding of their children’s development, family well-being, parent/child interactions and parenting
- Network and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and community resource providers
- Monitor and support child’s transition to other programs
- Develop and maintain book and toy lending libraries
- Maintain knowledge, skill, and sensitivity to respond effectively and respectfully to parenting practices of families taking into account their cultural background
- Develop effective working relationships with community and district interpreters
- Work with district certified support personnel and administrators to support family members
- Adhere to the Illinois Mandated Reporting laws
- Work with Supervisor to develop individualized professional development plan
- Function as team player when going through curriculum Continuous Quality Endorsement and Improvement Assurance and PI Monitoring and Compliance

Preferred Qualifications of Parent Educator Position:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree: Early Childhood Education, Human Development/Lifespan, Family Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Pediatric Health Practitioner or related field
Experience working with at-risk families, pregnant or parenting teens, and children birth to 5 years of age.
Skilled in reflective practice
Willing to practice flexibility in scheduling which may include nights and weekends

Salary: $54,312 for 1.0 FTE which is currently based on the 24/25 NUEA salary schedule, currently under negotiations and subject to change.
