We are searching for an experienced Joanna Macy Nuclear Guardian Fellow at our 2111 Arapahoe facility.

FTE: 18.5% (8 hrs/week)
Type of Employment: Temporary (This is a 9-month fellowship program running August 1, 2024–May 1, 2025, with an option to renew for a second year, August 1, 2025–May 1, 2026.)

Compensation: $25.86 per hour.
$25.86/hour for 7.4 hours/week for 39 weeks = $7,500 per year

Job Summary
Nuclear Guardianship Fellowship, Sponsored by the Ladybug Foundation. The Joanna Macy Center for Resilience and Regeneration (JMCR) at Naropa University, overseen by the Division of Mission Culture and Inclusive Community (MCIC), is currently seeking an activist-scholar-practitioner to support the JMCR mission and Naropa’s values by providing on-campus and off-campus experiences for students, staff, faculty, and the public.
Work related to this fellowship will responsively lead Joanna Macy-inspired practices and workshops with change makers, nuclear guardianship experts, and communities impacted by various nuclear activities advocating the future legacy of Nuclear Guardianship across the planet. The fellowship is awarded to a professional who has significant familiarity with Dr. Macy’s work and nuclear anti-proliferation.
This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to deepen professional skills while actively contributing to building a more resilient world aligned with Dr. Joanna Macy's vision of interconnectedness and ecological sustainability.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Program goals and activities may include but will not be limited to: Develop two annual Heart Tanks (at least one focused on Rocky Flats) and one Planning Retreat per year.
- Collaborations with the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center’s Nuclear Nexus and Boulder County Climate Justice Hive to consult, facilitate, and partner on Nuclear Guardianship initiatives.
- Host events focused on (and manage public engagement with) films related Nuclear Guardianship.

Educational requirement:
BA at minimum, MA Preferred, 2 years of experience facilitating the Work That Reconnects.

A comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week. Employees who work 20 – 29 hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
