Job Summary
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a para-professional, live-in position, supporting the Department of Campus & Residential Life. The RA’s primary role is that of person of contact for our residential students. This means that the RA must be visible and accessible within the community. RAs uphold the Naropa community Code of Conduct in regard to Residential Life and Naropa University policies, particularly as relates to alcohol, drugs, noise, and safety issues. RAs also serve as our Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs), assisting the Department of Campus & Residential Life in providing excellent customer service and hospitality to our summer conference attendees and guests. Performance is assessed in the areas of four(4) Key Accountabilities: 1) general duties, 2) on-call duties, 3) administrative duties, and 4) summer conferences.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
General Duties
• Attending our biweekly all staff meetings
• Facilitation of roommate agreements and mediation of roommate conflicts
• Regularly scheduled community meetings
• Upkeep of Snow Lion’s laundry room and community room as well as 2333 Arapahoe’s communal kitchen, living room, laundry room, and decks and patios.
• Assisting the Office of Campus & Residential Life with Health & Safety Inspections, and Evacuation Drills
On-Call Duties
• Serving on the Resident Assistant On-Call rotation on a regular basis between 5:00pm and 9:00am Monday – Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and academic breaks, holidays, and campus closures.
• Performing rounds in both Snow Lion Apartments and 2333 Arapahoe Residence Hall every night one is on-call
• Addressing policy violations, facilities concerns, resident questions and concerns, and emergencies while on-call
Administrative Duties
• Submitting On-Call Nightly Reports when on call
• Submission and follow up of Facilities Work Requests
Summer Conference Duties
Assist the Office of Campus & Residential Life with summer conferences, including but not limited to:
• Laundering/cleaning and replacing linens, towels, and dishes
• Light cleaning of units between guest stays
• Assisting with conference check-in and check-out
• Assisting with on-call emergency concerns
